Cyclect secured a United States patent in April 2015 for an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power generation unit. The patented system is distinguished by its lubricant-free architecture — eliminating the mechanical wear, oil contamination risk, and maintenance overhead associated with conventional lubricated ORC designs.
The Organic Rankine Cycle converts low-temperature waste heat into electricity, making it suitable for industrial facilities that generate significant thermal by-products — including manufacturing plants, data centres, and process facilities. Cyclect’s lubricant-free approach offers improved system reliability, lower lifecycle maintenance costs, and reduced risk of process contamination in sensitive production environments.
The patent represents a commercially relevant intellectual property asset in the context of Singapore’s industrial energy efficiency agenda and the growing demand for waste heat recovery solutions across high-energy-intensity sectors. It also supported Cyclect’s recognition at the WIPO-IPOS IP for Innovation Awards, where the group was named overall winner of the WIPO Enterprise Trophy in 2017.
