80th Anniversary: Cyclect Announces Bangladesh Solar, Sarawak Data Centre, Saudi MRO, and Nismix Acquisition

Cyclect marked its 80th anniversary with a gala dinner and announcements spanning a 50 MW Bangladesh solar project, a 200 MW Sarawak green data centre, the Nismix acquisition, and a Saudi Arabia MRO joint venture.

Cyclect Group marked its 80th anniversary at a gala dinner on 8 September 2023, attended by clients, partners, and employees representing the group’s operations across nine countries.

Managing Director Melvin Tan reflected on the group’s evolution from Cycle & Electric — founded in 1943 during the Japanese occupation — to a diversified engineering group active across Marine and Offshore, Built Environment, Telecommunications, High-Tech Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, and Infrastructure sectors.

At the anniversary dinner, the group announced the following strategic initiatives representing its forward direction:

A 50 MW solar power project in Bangladesh under a 20-year build-own-operate agreement with the Bangladesh Power Development Board. A 200 MW green data centre in Sarawak as part of the FutureData joint venture with TSG Group, now targeting 500 MW capacity. The acquisition of Nismix, expanding Cyclect’s capabilities into industrial mixing solutions for coatings, chemicals, and specialty ingredients. An MRO workshop in Saudi Arabia through the Sedres joint venture, targeting motor and generator servicing for the Kingdom’s energy and industrial sectors. Energy management collaborations aligned with Singapore’s industrial decarbonisation agenda.

The 80th anniversary milestone acknowledged eight decades of service to clients including Pfizer, MSD, ExxonMobil, Shell, Marina Bay Sands, and Singapore’s public infrastructure agencies — and signalled the group’s ambition for the decade ahead.
