LTA Awards Cyclect Contract to Upgrade Fire Protection Systems Across MRT Network

LTA awarded Cyclect a seven-year contract to replace fire alarm and Halon gas suppression systems across 53 MRT stations, with a 15-year maintenance option, covering the North-South/East-West and Circle Line networks.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded Cyclect Contract R178A for the replacement and upgrade of fire protection systems across multiple MRT stations across Singapore’s North-South/East-West Line and Circle Line network.

The scope includes replacement of Halon gas suppression systems at 44 NSEWL stations, fire alarm system replacements at six NSEWL stations and three CAL stations, and additional works at Pasir Ris, Chua Chu Kang, and Jurong East stations. Cyclect is contracted to complete the works within a seven-year programme, with the option of a 15-year comprehensive maintenance package upon completion.

Fire protection system upgrades in operational MRT stations require specialist planning to minimise disruption to public transport services, maintain system continuity throughout the replacement process, and meet stringent LTA and Singapore Civil Defence Force safety standards. Works must be phased and scheduled around station operating hours, adding complexity to an already technically demanding scope.

The contract reinforces Cyclect’s credentials in safety-critical rail infrastructure, adding a long-duration government engineering mandate to a portfolio that includes electrical works across multiple MRT stations and facilities management for Singapore’s transport sector.
