Melvin Tan, Group Managing Director of Cyclect, moderated a track on green data centres at the Shape the World Summit 2023, held in Kuching, Sarawak on 21 June 2023.
The track brought together data centre industry practitioners to address the operational and infrastructure challenges associated with reducing the environmental footprint of data centres — one of the fastest-growing contributors to global energy consumption. Topics included energy efficiency design, renewable energy sourcing, cooling technology innovation, and water conservation in large-scale data centre operations.
Tan’s participation reflected Cyclect’s active role in green data centre development: the group co-founded FutureData Sdn Bhd with TSG Group to develop a 500 MW green data centre park in Kuching — a project directly relevant to Sarawak’s positioning as a preferred location for sustainable digital infrastructure given its hydropower resources and regulatory environment.
His moderation of this track positioned Cyclect’s leadership as a substantive voice in the green data centre sector, contributing practitioner knowledge at a summit attended by business, government, and institutional leaders.
